One round. One clear focus.

Pick the card that fits what you are working on. Each one gives you a task to agree with your partner, something to notice and a question to take away.

  1. Escapes

Work from a familiar pin. Notice what helps you recover guard or reverse the position.

  2. Guard retention

Keep or recover your guard. Identify the moment before your partner gets past your legs.

  3. Passing

Focus on a familiar passing approach, then establish the top position you agreed on.

  4. Control

Maintain a pin as your partner works to escape. Notice which connections keep it stable.

  5. Pace

Agree a manageable pace. Spot rushed decisions and moments of unnecessary effort.

  6. Reflection

After the round, name one useful observation and choose one small thing to test next time.

Take one card to the mat.

  1. Choose your focus. Use one card for a round, rather than trying to work on everything.
  2. Agree the task. Discuss the starting position, resistance and reset rule with your partner.
  3. Practise, then reflect. Follow the card and keep one observation for your next session.

Use familiar skills and follow your coach’s guidance. Either partner can pause. Tap early and stop immediately on a tap.

Choose your next round’s focus.
